Music In Our Schools Month
Tanks, helicopters, the infantry, and combat are just a few things that come to mind when one thinks of the U.S. Army's role in our world.
Army Musicians take a slightly different approach while simultaneously living their Warfighter ethos. Every March, you might encounter Army Musicians performing in schools across the United States. Core to their mission is establishing trust and confidence with local community partners as well as spreading awareness to young Americans about potential career opportunities. For 40 years, the Music In Our School initiative has established a rhythm of honoring and recognizing music education in schools each year.
I have had the opportunity to document MIOS missions for several years while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division Band.
